June newsletter

Welcome to the June newsletter from Amethyst. I hope you and your loved ones are all well. We are now well on the way to July 4th (4 weeks and counting) and hopefully reopening some venues for training. I say hopefully because we are still reliant on the government go ahead. Not all venues will reopen; even though we are all keen to get back to some version of normal, we have to recognise that as a country we are nowhere near back to normality and must respect that we all have different circumstances and different feelings around safety during the pandemic. Our tutors must do what they feel is right for themselves and their families. These venues that will reopen in July subject to government go ahead: Cumbria, Hull,Newcastle Holistics, Newcastle Beauty, Nottingham, South Yorkshire, Stockton-on-Tees, West Sussex. Edinburgh/Fife venue will reopen when Scotland gets their date to do so. Other venues will reopen as tutor circumstances change.  We can reassure you that all tutors have undertaken training from the Beauty Guild or their own insurance company on preparing for work during the Covid-19 pandemic. This training includes all aspects of health & safety including proper hand washing techniques, sanitising the salon/training room, PPE etc. The Beauty Guild GTi course in Coronavirus (Covid-19) Infection Prevention & Control is free if you are a Beauty Guild member. If you're not a member, the course costs £20. You will receive a voucher for the same amount which can be discounted against membership/insurance. The course includes a check list on how to complete a risk assessment for your salon. You can also download a template to create your own Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention and Control Policy which you can display on your website and send to your clients. Enrol here or see below for a special offer. BONUS If you take any of our GTi online courses - all currently discounted by £10, the Coronavirus (Covid-19) Infection Prevention & Control is included for no extra cost. To find courses, go to the GTi page on our website. ALSO ON OFFER! For those of you interested in studying our full Aromatherapy course - get a head start and take the online GTi course in  Aromatherapy using Pre-blended Oils. When you enrol for your full in-person course with your tutor, pay only the balance. The GTi Aromatherapy course describes all the characteristics of the essential oils and carrier oils as well as describing how you can incorporate aromatherapy into your massage treatments. More details via the link above. (A body massage qualification is required). If you're worried about PPE and where to buy it, here's a good place to start (link from Professional Beauty). As well as course news, I again share some resources for self care below. Self care resources Meditation and Mindfulness Some of you will have completed training with Tina Fu, our tutor in Bolton and for the North West. Tina is offering Guided Meditation classes through Facebook Rooms starting on Monday 8th June at 8.30pm. Class is open to everyone and is delivered every Monday for 4 weeks; cost £20 paid for in advance. It is hosted in Tina's FB group Kokoon Wellbeing Tina has been running meditation classes since 2016. Self care Catherine, our Newcastle Holistics tutor, has been creating and making soap and cosmetics using natural ingredients since 2000. During lockdown she has been expanding her range of soaps to include shampoo and conditioning bars. Her latest additions are the Do One Good Thing! Herbal Solid Shampoo and Conditioning Bars: 'Do one good thing! Reduce your plastic and be a mermaid with Loved Up Herbal Solid Shampoo Bars, zero packaging, all natural goodness of Jojoba oil, Coconut oil and Olive oil for silky soft hair. Infused with Chamomile, Lemon essential oil for beautiful soulful tresses and Rosemary Oil for a Healthy Scalp.' I've been using both the shampoo and conditioner for about 3 weeks now and love them both. As a hardline, silicone hair conditioner junkie, my worry about making the jump to shampoo bars was that my coloured hair would become too dry. It took about a week to adjust to Catherine's naturally formulated shampoo and conditioner but my mermaid hair now looks and feels great! And my bathroom has 2 less plastic bottles!!  Yoga Julia from Blissflow has a new section on her website about including the activation of your chakras during your yoga session. Creativity Now we can get out and about again and visit the coast (sensibly and socially distanced of course), I enjoyed this tutorial from Beach Bliss Living on how to make seashell jewellery. I'm also in the midst of making a seashell mobile to go in my garden 😊 check this tutorial from Running with Sisters  However you're coping with lockdown, I hope you're all good and we can get back to our treatment and training rooms very soon. Want to check in or got something to say? Hit reply, I'd love to hear from you. Take care and stay safe, see you next time Rachel xx
