Hello lovelies Welcome to the October newsletter. I hope you're all keeping well and coping if, like me, you are facing new Covid restrictions as we are in the North East. With this in mind, and as I'm starting to write this newsletter on Mental Health Awareness Day, I thought I would include some of the self care tips to get us through it as I did in previous newsletters during lockdown. Scroll down to find a free meditation 😊 Most of our venues are now open in one way or another, although some us have not come out of lockdown or are now facing new restrictions. This year has really taught us all to think outside the box and offer teaching and treatments in a different way. So we are pleased to announce new accreditation that will allow us to teach remotely via Skype or Zoom (see below).
Accreditation news We now have two new additional accreditation bodies: International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine IPHM and International Guild of Complementary Therapists IGCT Both of these companies recognise remote or distance learning which will be a godsend in these days of lockdown and restrictive working settings. We would always recommend in person teaching over remote but in these pandemic times, when you can't get to a venue or your tutor may not be able to open, we have to be a bit more flexible with our approach. Sharon in Glasgow, Louise in West Sussex, Catherine and Dione in Tyne & Wear, Gill in South Yorkshire and Michelle in Hull are all gearing up to teach remotely. Please contact us if you are interested in learning this way.
Course news Himalayan Salt Stone Massage is a brand new course available initially only at the South Yorkshire venue (massage qualification required). Himalayan Salt Stone Massage is a form of ‘halotherapy’ or therapy using salt; derived from the Greek word halos, meaning salt. The main unique benefit of this treatment which sets it apart from Hot Stones is to release negative ions from the salt stones, reducing inflammation in the body. Please contact us to book this course. If there is another course you would like to see us offer whether in person or as home study, please get in touch and we will see what we can do, just hit reply.
Product of the month PUMPKIN SEED oil (Cucurbita Pepo) 🎃🎃🎃 It had to be pumpkin in some form or another this month! Pumpkin Seed carrier oil is full of goodies including Vitamin E, Zinc, Omega 3, 6 and 9. It has excellent moisturising properties and the Zinc can keep your skin free of blemishes. The high vitamin and omega content make it excellent for dry, mature or damaged skin and it is also recommended for clients with acne. Sounds like a wonder product!! It's not a cheap oil, but works well blended 10% in a cheaper oil such as Sweet Almond or Sunflower. If you don't want to splash out on the oil, try using some of that Halloween Pumpkin pulp on your face 😊 here's a link for several face masks using Pumpkin from liveabout.com Have fun!! 🎃🎃🎃
Self care As I start to write this newsletter it's Mental Health Awareness day - October 10th. I always have to start these newsletters a few days before I send them out, and build them gradually - part of my own self care - to do work in chunks, not slogging away trying to get something finished at one sitting. Aside from the awareness day, I feel very aware of how lockdown and restrictions due to Covid are affecting mental health for so many of us. Here are some resources or links you might find interesting or useful for yourself or your clients. As therapists, it's very important to look after ourselves first; the expression is 'you can't give from an empty cup'. Mind has some good tips for coping if you or someone you know is struggling. Are you doing some meditation daily? Some yoga stretches or a few rounds ofSun Salutation? Maybe your meditation is a walk through nature or by the sea - I love to do both of these, especially by the sea. Here's my own gift to you (if you made it this far through the newsletter - yay!) Taken from our Meditation Teacher home study course - a short meditation onAwareness of the Breath. How are you filling your cup?
Want to check in or got something to say? I'd love to hear from you. Contact me through the website
Take care and stay safe, see you next time Rachel xx
